The All LPG Cylinder Delivery Men Trade Union (CDMTU) has urged the government to ensure fair wages and improved facilities for LPG delivery workers and allied staff.

At a press meet here on Friday, union general secretary Venkatesh M. said all workers — permanent or temporary, including mechanics, drivers, loaders, and godown staff — should be listed in the agency register based on seniority, issued ID cards, and paid statutory minimum wages directly into bank accounts.

He demanded that each agency appoint at least three trained mechanics for tasks such as e-KYC updates, connection checks, and gas leak complaints, instead of burdening delivery staff. The union also sought an end to treating consumer tips as wages, and called for a standard salary of ₹21,000 with biannual wage revisions.

A Statewide protest will be held on September 8 to press these and 17 other demands.
