Four members of a family were killed while seven others were seriously injured in a road accident near Chakicherla in Ulavapadu mandal of SPSR Nellore district in the wee hours of Saturday (August 09). The injured persons were immediately admitted into Kavali area hospital. Two critically injured were shifted to Nellore Government General Hospital (GGH) for better treatment.
According to the police, the accident occurred when a group of family members were going to Tirumala from Piduguralla. Their van was hit by a truck near Chakicherla. Two died on the spot, another person succumbed to injuries while being shifted to the hospital and another passed away undergoing treatment. The victims were identified as the residents of Kothaganesunipadu village in Machavaram mandal of Palnadu district.
Several ministers of the State have expressed their condolences to the family members of the deceased. A.P. Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy has instructed the officers to provide emergency facilities for the evacuation of the critically injured to Nellore GGH. He conveyed his condolences to the family members of the deceased.
Expressing deep sorrow over the road accident, Mr. Ramprasad Reddy said: “The death of family members in the road accident is an irreparable loss. The medical officers have been directed to provide better services to the accident victims for immediate treatment during the golden hour.”
Social Welfare Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy expressed grief over the road accident. “The death of a family members in the road accident is sad. The loss of lives while going to Tirumala for darshan is deeply disturbing to me. We will provide better medical treatment to the injured. My deepest condolences to the family members of the deceased,” he said in a statement.
Minister for Revenue, Registration and Stamps Anagani Satya Prasad expressed shock over the death of the persons in the road accident, and offered condolences to the family members of the deceased.
Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy also said that he was shocked by the horrific road accident. Investigation is on and the police have registered cases.
