Boy hit on head during javelin throw; admitted to Theni GMCH

In a suspected freak accident while practicing different games in a playground, a 13-year-old boy, who was playing football, suffered head injury after a javelin thrown by a 19-year-old boy hit him on Friday.

Police said that Sai Prakash, 13, was studying in Savarippa Udayar Memorial High School in Rayapanpatti near Uthamapalayam in Theni district. He was good at football and was a hosteler. On Friday, after school hours, he was practicing football at the Rayapanpatti playgrounds.

On the same ground, a 19-year-boy identified as Thipesh of Gudalur was practicing javelin throw. A student at a college in Chennai, Thipesh had come home on leave.

During the practice session, it was said that the javelin hit Sai Prakash’s head. Immediately, he was rushed to Cumbum Government Hospital. After first-aid, he was referred to Theni Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for treatment.

Further investigation was on.
