Dhinakaran condemns attempt to intimidate protesting conservancy workers in Chennai

Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran, on Sunday (August 10, 2025), condemned “attempts to intimidate” in the guise of holding talks with conservancy workers, who have been staging a protest against the decision to privatise certain conservancy operations of the Greater Chennai Corporation.

The workers, whose protest has crossed 10 days, have alleged that there were attempts to intimidate them, Mr. Dhinakaran said. Underlining their role during natural disasters, Mr. Dhinakaran criticised the DMK government for reportedly crushing their protests. He reiterated that they be invited for talks.
