The Kannur Town police have arrested three youths on charge of raping a minor girl at Thazhae Chovva in the city.
The arrested youths — V.V. Sangeeth, K. Abhishek Vaidyar, and P. Akash — were produced in court and remanded.
They were arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on a complaint by the 15-year-old girl. The alleged incident took place six months ago.
According to the complaint, the youths took the girl to a lodge and forcibly made her consume a soft drink laced with sleeping pills and sexually abused her.
The case was initially investigated by the Edakkad police, who handed it over to the Town police, as the alleged incident took place within the latter’s limits.
