Four-member gang held, gold, silver ornaments worth ₹42 lakh recovered in East Godavari district of A.P.

The East Godavari police have arrested a four-member gang in connection with various house burglary cases and recovered 301 grams of gold and seven kilograms of silver ornaments from them on Monday (August 11). The total worth of gold and silver jewellery is nearly ₹42 lakh. 

East Godavari District Superintendent of Police D. Narasimha Kishore said that the accused — Vemagiri Harish, Mortha Venkatesh, T. Durga Prasad and Bandi Dharma Raju, all natives of erstwhile East Godavari district, were involved in nearly 80 house burglaries. The police swung into action after G. Pavan Sharma, a resident of Konthamuru village in Rajamahendravaram Rural, lodged a complaint of his house burglary on July 20. Mr. Pavan Sharma’s house was looted when his family was on pilgrimage. The accused are reported to have looted 18 tolas of gold from the house of Mr. Pavan Sharma. 

“Two more members of the gang who involved in various house burglary cases are yet to be arrested. A case has been registered against the four accused and the investigation is on,” Mr. Narasimha Kishore said.
