A pedestrian and the motorcycle rider who hit him died on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, after a road accident at Uchhila in Padubidri police limits of Udupi district.
Police said 65-year-old Shankar, a resident of Bada village in Kapu taluk, had crossed the Panvel-Kochi National Highway 66 at Uchhila and was standing on the highway flank when one Darshan Raj, riding a motorcycle with one Natasha on the pillion, hit Shankar.
Shankar suffered severe head injuries and was declared dead on arrival at the Udupi District Hospital. The riders, too, had suffered injuries. While Raj succumbed at a private hospital in Udupi on Sunday, Natasha is undergoing treatment.
Raj was a hotel management student at a private college in Kodakkal. Padubidri police have registered a case and are investigating.
