Sastra Deemed University in Thanjavur emerges winner of moot court contest

Madras High Court Judges Justice G.R. Swaminathan, former Judge Justice R. Subramanian and Ashok R. Patil, Vice Chancellor, NUSRL, Ranchi, distributed trophies to the winners of the second All India moot court competition hosted by the Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College in Puducherry on Sunday.

Sastra Deemed University, Thanjavur, has emerged winner of the second All India Moot Court competition, 2025, hosted by the Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College in Puducherry. The winners took home a prize money of ₹50,000.

At the conclusion of the final round of the three-day event on Sunday, the School of Excellence of Law, Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU), Chennai finished runners with a prize of ₹25,000.

The award for Best Male Counsel (₹10,000) went to Akhilesh of O.P. Jindal Global University, and Best Female Counsel (₹10,000) to R. Sripradha of Crescent School of Law, Chennai.

The Best Research award (₹5,000) was given to S. Naveena of Government Law College, Kozhikode and the Best Memorial prize was bagged by Government Law College, Coimbatore.

In all, 69 teams from institutions across the country competed in the moot court competition on Consumer Law, organised under the aegis of the Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India.

Justice G.R. Swaminathan, Judge, Madras High Court and Justice R. Surbamanian, former Judge, Madras High Court, Prof. Ashok R. Patil, Vice-Chancellor, National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi, and Prof. S. Srinivasan, Principal, Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Puducherry gave away the prizes. They also served as the jury for the finals that took place on Sunday in the moot court hall of the institution.

A group of judicial officers, academicians and senior advocates, adjudicated the various rounds of the competition.

Kalapet MLA P.M.L. Kalyanasundaram was present.
