Karate master convicted in sexual assault case

A Mahila Court on Monday convicted a 41-year-old karate master in a sexual assault case. The quantum of sentence would be pronounced on Tuesday.

According to police, the convict E. Kebiraj was arrested in May 2021 after a young woman, who was one of his students, lodged a complaint alleging that he had tried to sexually assault her in a moving car as they were returning from a martial arts tournament in 2014. He had also allegedly threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone. 

The All Women Police, Anna Nagar, arrested the accused based on the woman’s complaint, and the case was further investigated by the CB-CID.
