Three recruitment firms were sealed and five were issued notices by the Aluva East police in a special drive in the wake of widespread complaints about alleged unscrupulous practices by many such firms.
The drive ordered by District Police Chief (Kochi City) M. Hemalatha focused on firms about which the police received the most number of complaints regarding visa fraud and forceful custody of cheques and certificates.
There were complaints of alleged cheating by swindling anywhere between ₹50,000 and up to ₹12 lakh. Illegally held documents, passports, certificates, and cheque leaves were seized from the sealed firms. Cases were also registered against them.
