Transperson held for murder of 57-year-old man

A 57-year-old man from Abhiramapuram succumbed to injuries on Monday after being pushed during an argument with a transperson. Initially registered as an assault case, it was altered to murder following his death and the transperson was arrested.

The victim was identified as P. Sekar of Vishalakshi garden in Abiramapuram. When he was standing on Warren Road on August 7, a quarrel erupted between him and the transperson, after he allegedly touched her inappropriately. He was pushed down and injured. He was later admitted to the Government Royapettah Hospital, where he died on Monday.

The police arrested the transperson Manoj alias Nandika, 19, of Mylapore charges of murder. She was remanded in judicial custody.
