An orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in 12 districts of Telangana was issued by India Meteorological Department (IMD) for Friday (August 15, 2025). And, eight districts are under yellow alert. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) were forecast as very likely at isolated places in all districts.
Orange alert to 12 dists
The 12 districts under orange alert are Adilabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Kamareddy, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Medak, Mulugu, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, and Warangal, according to IMD’s bulletin issued on Thursday (August 14, 2025) afternoon.
Yellow alert to eight dists
Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hanumakonda, Jagtial, Jangaon, Karimnagar, Rajanna Sircilla, Sangareddy, and Vikarabad.
Hyderabad and surrounding areas
Moderate to heavy rain or thundershowers, at times intense spells, accompanied with gusty winds (40-50 kmph) is very likely in the city and adjoining areas in the next 24 hours.
147.6 mm highest rainfall on Wednesday
On Wednesday, the highest rainfall of 147.6 mm was recorded in Kalwakurthy of Nagarkurnool followed by 127 mm in Pargi of Vikarabad and 126.2 mm in Marikal of Narayanpet, according to data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS
In the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, the highest of 44.7 mm was recorded in Rajendranagar of Rangareddy.Â
