Boy drowns in the Cauvery near Tiruchi

A 14-year-old boy drowned in the Cauvery at Mutharasanallur near Tiruchi on Wednesday evening. The police gave the name of the victim as S. Dhayakaransai of Ramji Nagar.

The boy went with his family to offer worship at the Adaiyalamkathal Amman temple at Mutharasanallur on Wednesday. After the temple visit, the boy went to take a bath in the river. He was retrieved and brought to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital at Tiruchi where the doctor declared him dead, said police sources. The Jeeyapuram police have registered a case.
