Seven National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed in different districts in view of the heavy rains on the request of the Telangana Government. They are coordinating their relief and rehabilitation works with the respective local administrations to provide succour to the affected people, informed Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy on Thursday.
Two NDRF teams are stationed in Bhadradri-Kothagudem and one team each is deployed in Hyderabad, Khammam, Nirmal, Mulugu and Mahabubnagar districts. Each team has 50 members, including structural engineers, technicians, dog squads, mechanical and para-medical personnel, he said.
In view of the forecast of heavy rainfall across the weekend, Mr. Kishan Reddy appealed to the State Government to provide food and shelter to the families moved from low-lying areas.
Citizens should stay away from water bodies and reach out to various department helplines for any assistance, he added in a press release.
