Congress leader and Kalpetta MLA T. Siddique has dismissed BJP leader Anurag Thakur’s claims on discrepancies in the voters’ list in the in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, calling them “misleading and baseless”.
Mr. Siddique told mediapersons here on Thursday that the BJP had sought to portray real voters as fake. “The BJP had claimed that Maimoona, a voter in the Eranad Assembly constituency, had votes in three polling booths. However, it has been now proved that all those are three different people with the same name residing in Areekode, Kavanur, and Kuzhimanna grama panchayats. They have their vote only in one polling booth,” Mr. Siddique said.
He pointed out that Chounderi was not a family name. It was the name of a small locality. It was earlier known as Chamundeswari Kunnu, the MLA said. Mr. Siddique also demanded action against Mr. Thakur for spreading false information on the voters.
