The Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao on Thursday reviewed the arrangements made at Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) for launch of the ‘Stree Shakti”, the free bus travel scheme for women by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu on Friday, coinciding with the Independence Day.

In a video conference with the zonal Executive Directors of the Corporation, Mr. Rao directed them to ensure proper coordination among officials and staff at every level to ensure smooth launch and a hassle-free continuation of scheme.

In a separate meeting with the unit officers, he asked them to coordinate with district Collectors and ensure that the passengers do not face any inconvenience. He said the officials should make adequate arrangements as a good number of political leaders, officials and women beneficiaries of the scheme were expected to be present at the inaugural programme.

Mr. Rao said the Corporation employees should behave courteously with women passengers and that issuance of ‘zero tickets’ for women would start immediately after the launch of the scheme by the Chief Minister. He said the entire staff and workers of APSRTC should work sincerely for the grand success of “Stree Shakti” scheme.
