A new construction structure near the boundary wall of the Humayun’s Tomb premises collapsed on Friday (August 15, 2025).
Superintending Archaeologist R.K. Patel, ASI Delhi circuit told The Hindu that the roof and side wall of a mosque adjacent to the boundary wall of the Humayun’s Tomb Collapsed. “It is neither part of the Tomb complex nor is it on premises of the ASI monitored property, however the gates of the tomb were opened to facilitate rescue operations,” said Mr. Patel.
Several teams are at the spot to rescue people trapped under the rubble. According to police sources 11 people have been rescued already.
The monument is a mid-16th Century mausoleum that is frequented by tourists .
