Kanniyakumari Collector honours 349 employees; distributes ₹1.28 crore welfare assistance at Independence Day celebrations

Kanniyakumari District Collector R. Alagumeena hoisted the tricolour at the 79th Independence Day celebrations held at Anna Stadium here on Friday.

Following the flag hoisting , the Collector inspected the guard of honour by the police personnel, NCC cadets and fire and rescue personnel, along with Kanniyakumari District Superintendent of Police R. Stalin.

At the event Ms. Alagumeena distributed welfare assistance worth ₹1.28 crore to 45 individuals on behalf of various departments including Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Horticulture, Social Welfare etc,.

Ms. Alagumeena also presented certificates to 349 government employees from various departments including Rural Development, Town Panchayat, Health and Family Welfare, Fire and Rescue Service, Police, Agricultural Marketing and Agri Business, Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare etc,. for their exemplary work.

Certificates of appreciation were awarded to five entrepreneurs, who have successfully implemented the Chief Ministers’ Pharmacies in the district. In addition, seven people from the district who have made significant contributions in various fields were also awarded with certificates of appreciation.

The event also featured colourful and patriotic cultural performances by students of various government and private schools in the district.

Nagercoil Corporation Mayor R. Mahesh, Corporation Commissioner Nishanth Krishna, District Forest Officer E. Prashanth, Padmanabhapuram Sub Collector Vinay Kumar Meena, District Revenue Officer J. Balasubramaniam and other officials were present at the event.
