Tricolour hoisted on wooden scaffolding amid backwaters

Team Saligrama Kayaking Point celebrated Independence Day by hoisting the national flag on a wooden scaffolding built amid the backwaters of Seetha river in Parampalli near Saligrama in Udupi district on Friday, August 15.

For the past few years, the team has been attempting novel ways of celebrating the national festivals so as to usher in patriotism and nationalism among the local population as well as the visitors, said Mithun Kumar Mendon from Team Saligrama Kayaking Point.

The team that takes visitors through the Mangrove filled backwaters of the river had earlier hoisted the National flag by erecting a pole in the backwater. Later, it built a scaffolding amid the Mangroves to hoist the flag.

Team member Lokesh Mendon, and local residents were present.
