Young doctor found dead in Ernakulam

A doctor was found dead in a flat at Marampilly near Perumbavoor on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Meenakshi Vijayakumar, 37. The police suspect it to be a case of suicide.

“So far, we have not found any evidence of foul play, nor were there signs of any struggle. She was staying alone, and the flat was locked from inside,” said the police.

The woman was found dead when her colleagues went to check on her when she failed to turn up for duty and answer phone calls. The caretaker helped them open the flat, and the body was discovered around 11 a.m. The police suspect the death might have happened sometime in the night.

No suicide note has been found, and her mobile phone, which remains locked, would be sent for analysis.
