A gang of three in Medak has been arrested for a series of break-ins targeting banks, wine shops and an ATM. The men, identified as Gudepu Srikanth, Charla Lingam, and Katta Prasad, allegedly used methods copied from YouTube videos, including trying to drag an ATM away with a tractor.

According to the SP of Medak police D. V. Srinivasa Rao, the trio’s spree began in late June when they attempted to steal an ATM in Gummadidala by tying it to a tractor and pulling at it with ropes. “The siren rang and they fled. They had a similar fate at a break-in at a bank in Eldurthi days later, when they smashed through a wall only to be scared off by the alarm,” said the officer.

In early August, Srikanth and Lingam allegedly broke into a wine shop in Gummadidala, stealing liquor worth several thousand rupees and ₹15,000 in cash, which they split and partly consumed. On August 7, they tried to enter an SBI branch in Medak town from a neighbouring building but failed to break through a wall. Later that night, they allegedly broke into a Kaudipalli wine shop, stealing assorted bottles of whisky, vodka, and brandy.

The gang was caught using technical evidence by the Medak police on Saturday, August 16.
