The revenue of the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation has increased fivefold — from ₹49.11 crore in 2020-21 to ₹243.31 crore in 2023-24 — the State government said, while highlighting the achievements of the Tourism Department.

From May 2021 to January 2025, the Corporation generated a massive revenue of ₹129.28 crore through its 26 hotels, and online booking services for all tours, it said.

In Tamil Nadu, foreign tourist arrivals grew from 0.14 million in 2022 to 1.17 million in 2023, and domestic tourist arrivals from 218.58 million in 2022 to 286 million in 2023, according to a statement.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin released the Tamil Nadu Tourism Policy on September 26, 2023 — a first in the State’s history. Following this, many tourism development projects were implemented across Tamil Nadu, it said.

The release also highlighted various projects implemented since the DMK assumed office in 2021, including the establishment of Keeladi Museum, Jallikattu arena near Alanganallur in Madurai, and the construction of India’s first fiberglass sea bridge at Kanniyakumari.
