Non closure of railway gate; driver alerts gatekeeper on Rameswaram-Madurai stretch

After noticing that the railway gate was not closed, an alert loco pilot Nagarajan stopped the Rameswaram-Madurai passenger between Uchipuli and Ramanathapuram on Saturday. Due to the stoppage, the train suffered a detention of about two-four minutes.

It was said that the train left Rameswaram at 5.40 a.m. towards Madurai. As it was approaching, Valandaravai railway station, the railway gate at Vazhuthoor was found open. Immediately, the driver slowed down the train and informed the gatekeeper to close after which he moved the train.
