Railway staff killed after being hit by a truck near Pallavaram

A 56-year-old railway staff was killed after being hit by a truck in Nagalkeni near Pallavaram on Sunday.

A senior official of the Tambaram Police Commissionerate said Selva Kumar was working as a clerk in Southern Railway, and was residing in Padmanabha Nagar of Pozhichalur near Pallavaram. On Sunday, he had gone to Nagalkeni to purchase household items on his two-wheeler. As he was proceeding on Anna Street, a heavy truck coming from Tiruvannamalai to carry old iron products hit the vehicle. In the impact, he was thrown off and killed after getting caught in the rear wheel of the truck. He died on the spot. 

The Chromepet Traffic Investigation police, after sending the victim’s body to the Chromepet Government Hospital for post mortem, arrested the truck driver Janakiraman, 33, of Tiruvannamalai
