A 24-year-old woman lodged a complaint with the police of suspecting her relatives behind the death of her second husband in a road accident on Saturday night.
Following investigations, the police arrested the woman’s father identified as Alagar of Thumbaipatti under Kottampatti police station limits on Sunday.
Police said that Raghavi, 24, was married to Selvam of Pottapatti near here. The couple had two children. Three years ago Selvam died in a road accident.
After she lost her husband, Raghavi is said to have fallen in love with another man, whose name was given as Satishkumar, 22, of Pottapatti. They both lived together in Tiruchi.
It is said that Raghavi had come to her native home on Saturday and left with Satishkumar around 7 p.m. on a two-wheeler. As they were proceeding to Tiruchi, an unidentified car hit the two-wheeler near Kadampatti tank in which Satishkumar fell and suffered head injury. He was rushed to Melur Government Hospital, but succumbed to injuries, police said.
Based on the complaint of Raghavi, the Kottampatti police registered a case. Investigations suggested that her relatives – Ayyanar, Arun Pandi, Rahul, Sarita, Alagar, Arumugam, Kannayee, Manimegalai and a few others were behind the crime, she alleged.
Meanwhile, her father had charged that Ragavi and Satishkumar had taken away valuables from his house and urged the police to recover them.
The police booked case under BNS 191 (2), 49, 109 and 103 (1) and arrested Alagar, the complainant’s father. Further investigation is on.
