The entire Godavari region is on alert in the wake of heavy rainfall expected in the next 48 hours. All the schools have been declared holiday in the districts of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, Kakinada, East Godavari, West Godavari and Alluri Sitarama Raju.Â
In the tribal pockets of Chintoor and Rampachodavaram agencies, the tribals are also on the alert owing to the rise in the inflow of floodwater into river Godavari. At 8.30., the inflow of flood water into the river Godavari touched to 35 ft at Bhadrachalam, upstream Polavaram irrigation project.

The downstream of Polavaram irrigation project lies in Konaseema region, which has been witnessing continuous rainfall for the past 24 hours. On the Kakinada coast, Kakinada District Collector S. Shan Mohan has asked the fisherfolk to return from the sea and suspend the marine fishing activity until further weather update.
