With heavy rains lashing Eluru district owing to changing weather conditions, District Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishore has appealed to the public and vehicle drivers to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions to avoid accidents and safeguard lives.

The SP noted that the Godavari river, streams, canals, and nearby low-lying areas are witnessing heavy water flow, creating a risk of flooding. Residents in flood-prone regions have been advised to shift to safer locations to prevent loss of life and property.

Vehicle drivers, in particular, have been cautioned to exercise extreme care when water is flowing across roads. They must assess the speed and force of the water before attempting to move forward and avoid taking risky steps. The police have also stressed the importance of following proper safety measures while crossing canals and streams.

In case of emergencies, the public has been urged to immediately contact the police through Dial 112 or the dedicated helpline 8332959175. The district police have assured that personnel are fully prepared to provide timely assistance based on information received.

The SP further appealed to the people of Eluru district to extend their full cooperation to the police, emphasising that collective caution and responsibility are essential to preventing loss of life and damage to property during this spell of heavy rains.
