Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran and Tamil Manila Congress (M) president G.K. Vasan, on Monday (August 18, 2025), appealed to parties in INDIA bloc to support National Democratic Alliance’s Vice-Presidential candidate, C.P. Radhakrishnan, on the ground that he is the ‘son of Tamil soil’.
In a statement, Mr. Nagenthran said ‘if history records that every party, rising above political boundaries, supported this honour being bestowed on a Tamil leader, it will be remembered as a milestone in healthy politics’.
“Therefore, I sincerely appeal to all leaders and members of the INDI Alliance in Tamil Nadu to rise above party lines and extend their support to Thiru C.P. Radhakrishnan avl for the Vice Presidential candidature,” he said.
Mr. Vasan too said Mr. Radhakrishnan being chosen as an NDA candidate for the post of Vice-President was a ‘proud moment for Tamil Nadu and Tamil language’.
“He is someone who is liked by everyone irrespective of their political inclinations. He has carved a name for himself in every capacity that he has served in — be it as state president, Lok Sabha member and as a Governor,” he said. He added that every political party in Tamil Nadu should support his candidature.
