‘Kodi’ Suni, a convict in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case, has been shifted from Kannur Central Jail to Central Prison and Correctional Home, Tavanur, Malappuram, Kerala, amid controversies.
The shifting follows reports of misconduct, including allegations of drinking on the Thalassery court premises. A prison department report had earlier stated that Suni was using a mobile phone inside jail and was involved in illegal activities such as gold-smuggling operation outside.
While Suni, who was lodged in the 10th block of Kannur Central Jail, has been moved, another convict in the T.P. murder case continues to remain there.
The move has sparked political reactions, with CPI(M) leader and prison advisory committee member P. Jayarajan responding strongly. He said that if any laws were violated, action would be taken “whether it was ‘kodi’ or ‘vadi’.”
