The Delhi High Court on Monday issued notices to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Atishi and Sanjay Singh in connection with a defamation case filed against them by Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit.

Mr. Dikshit had approached the High Court challenging a trial court order that dismissed his plea in April, observing that the allegations made against him by the senior AAP leaders were “not imputation” but “political aspirations and assertions”.

However, while filing the revision petition, Mr. Dikshit’s counsel said the allegations were personal in nature and cause his client “reputational and electoral harm”, constituting defamation

Justice Ravinder Dudeja of the Delhi High Court directed Ms. Atishi and Mr. Singh to submit their responses by December 4. The former Congress MP from East Delhi has alleged that, ahead of the Delhi Assembly election, the AAP leaders had claimed that he took “crores of rupees from the BJP and colluded with the ruling party to defeat AAP”.
