Bharti Airtel Ltd. experienced an outage on Monday in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), affecting customers’ ability to make or receive calls from around 3:30 p.m. onwards. The problem began to be resolved around 7 p.m.

“Our customers from Delhi-NCR are experiencing some voice calling issues for the past hour or so,” an Airtel spokesperson said around 5 p.m. “[A] significant part of the issue has already been resolved, and our engineers are at work to resolve it fully. We deeply regret any inconvenience,” the spokesperson added.

This is the second major outage impacting Airtel customers this year. On May 16, the telecom company’s customers in Tamil Nadu and Kerala were affected. The outage in May, Airtel later said, was caused by a “node” failure in the company’s networks and was resolved in a few hours.

This is also the second telecom provider-level outage this year in the NCR. On April 18, the downtime lasted over an hour after midnight.

Airtel has over 1.9 crore subscribers in the Delhi service area, according to the June statistics by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.
