Fire breaks out at chemical factory in Thavalakuppam

A major fire broke out in a chemical factory at Thavalakuppam in Puducherry on Sunday night. The fire which started around 11 p.m. was contained only on the early hours of Monday. 

Police said the fire service personnel from units at Puducherry, Bahour, Villianur and D-Nagar battled for several hours to contain the flames. Areas adjoining the factory went without electricity for hours as supply was cut to prevent the blaze from spreading.. The Thavalakuppam Police have launched an investigation.
