Outstanding faculty, high-quality research and outcome-based education, emphasis on learning and teaching, the use of right technology and requisite infrastructure remain prerequisites to create a world-class university system, said Professor Kuldeep Kumar Raina, vice-chancellor, M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Science, Bengaluru, on Tuesday.

In his inaugural address at the 20th annual convocation of Thiruvalluvar University, which was presided over by Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi, Mr. Raina highlighted the need for a world-class university system. “Such a university system also depends on research and innovations, patents, global employability, industry partnerships and academic collaborations,” he said.

Professor Mr. Raina stressed the need for continuous learning among students, especially in their area of specialisation and said such learning can be attained only through hard work. “The domain knowledge of students and graduates can be put to best use for the welfare and sustainability of the planet. Students should also have perseverance to achieve results in difficult situations,” he said.

On the occasion, Mr. Ravi presented degree certificates to the graduates. Of a total of 25,599 students, including 187 research scholars, who received degree certificates, 256 students got their certificates in person. Professor T. Arumugam, vice-chancellor of Thiruvalluvar University, was also present.
