Three persons were killed, and three others sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in rammed a tree near Vriddhachalam in the early hours of Wednesday (August 20, 2025).
The police identified the deceased as B. Adhinesh, 21, V. Ayappan, 19, and M. Velmurugan, 21, of Erumanur.
The police said the three, along with K. Venkatesan, K. Gowtham, and P. Natarajan, all hailing from the same area, were travelling from Erumanur to Sithalur after attending a street play. On approaching Vriddhachalam, Venkatesan, who was at the wheel, lost control of the vehicle and dashed against a roadside tree.
The accident occurred at around 1:10 a.m.
In the impact, Adhinesh, Ayappan, and Velmurugan died on the spot, while the others were seriously injured. Passersby rescued the injured and alerted the Vriddhachalam police. They were admitted to the Vriddhachalam General Hospital. A case has been registered.
