“The idea of a rising India and the time for thinking big have come together for graduates to leverage their career potential with a careful blend of ancient wisdom and modern technology,” said Puneet Dalmia, managing director and CEO of Dalmia Bharat Ltd., delivering the 39th Convocation Day address at SASTRA Deemed University on Sunday.

Encouraging graduates to think big, take risks and remain humble in their career development, Mr. Dalmia said India’s transition from a fragile economy to the world’s fourth largest economy signalled responsible growth and sustainable development. “This growth must be enriched with both financial and human capital, which are on the rise,” he said.

He stressed on the need to align multidisciplinary growth in IT, infrastructure, manufacturing, semiconductors, electronics, agriculture and services with the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.

Over 4,200 students received undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees across engineering, sciences, management, law, education, and arts. Founder-Chancellor’s Best Doctoral Thesis Awards were presented to Jayanth Sharma (Engineering), S. Harshavardhan (Sciences), and Amrith Bhargav (non-STEM disciplines).

The Best Outgoing B. Tech. Graduate Awards went to Adhappan Vishnu (Computer Science and Engineering) and Lalitha Tejaswi (Computer Science – AI & Data Science). SASTRA’s Chancellor R. Sethuraman presided over the event. Vice-Chancellor S. Vaidhyasubramaniam welcomed the gathering.
