Tribal Welfare Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani laid the foundation stone for the construction of Tribal Multipurpose Marketing Centre (TMMC), at Srisailam on Wednesday. The completion of the centre will play a crucial role in enhancing the social and financial conditions of the tribals living in Srisailam and nearby areas.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Sandhya Rani said that the centre will be a boon for the tribals of the region as it will act as a platform for them to sell their agriculture produce, forest resources, and the material they manufacture from forest products. She said that the setting up of the centre will increase employment opportunities for local tribals and added the State government will set up more such centres at other places too in future.

Collector Rajakumari Ganiya said that the government is taking steps for welfare and development of the Chenchu tribals in Nallamala forests. As part of her visit to Nandyal district, Ms. Sandhya Rani had also inaugurated the Nannari juice processing unit at Atmakur town.
