A large number of persons with disabilities working in Tasmac shops organised a protest outside the Tasmac headquarters located in Egmore on Wednesday.

The employees of the Tasmac shops coming under the Tamil Nadu Tasmac ‘Matruthiranligal Paniyalar Nalasangam’ conducted the protest to highlight the various employment issues including the identification of vacancies in Tasmac shops for persons with disabilities and to provide permanent jobs to all those already employed.

The protesters also wanted the Tasmac management to provide an incentive of ₹2,500 per month already being provided to persons with disabilities employed in other government departments and fill the large number of vacancies available in junior assistant category. The persons with disabilities employed in Tasmac shops should be posted in the shops near to the localities of their hometown.

The protesting employees were taken to a marriage hall by the City police and later let off.
