The Brahmavar police arrested three supporters of activist Mahesh Shetty Thimarody for allegedly blocking the way of police convoy taking Thimarody and obstructing the police from official discharge of duty on Thursday.
In a statement, the police said supporters of Thimarody followed the convoy from Belthangady to Brahmavar and on several occasions caused obstruction to the movement of the convoy by bringing their vehicles in between. Despite warnings, the supporters continued to obstruct the movement of police vehicles.
Near Hosmar, Thimarody supporters â L. Surjan, Hitesh Shetty, and Sahan â hit their car against the vehicle of Udupi Additional Superintendent of Police that was part of the convoy.
The police arrested Surjan, Hitesh Shetty, and Sahan, all from Ujire, charging them under section 132, 121(1), 281, and 3(5) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The car used by them was seized. They were produced before the Court of Additional Civil Judge and JMFC, Brahmavar, which remanded the three persons in judicial custody, the police said.
