The Kerala High Court has directed the agencies concerned to complete the repair of all potholed and undulated roads in the city by August 26.

A Bench of Justice Devan Ramachandran warned that the court would summon engineers if potholes were found on road corridors in the city. The Public works department and the Kochi Corporation submitted that repair works on damaged roads had begun in right earnest after the rains had taken a break. The Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) assured the court that steps would be taken to repair the Kaloor–Kadavanthra Road.

But the amicus curiae appointed by the court submitted that the repair works were far from satisfactory. The court sought a report from the agencies concerned in this regard and expressed displeasure at not receiving one so far on the death of a young two-wheeler rider in a pothole-related accident in Thrissur in July.

The court also sought a report on the incident in which a child was run over by a private bus in Palakkad after the vehicle rammed into a two-wheeler driven by her father.
