Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao has said that several measures, including the construction of a retaining wall at an estimated cost of ₹210 crore, will be undertaken to prevent the erosion of the Bheemili beach.
Addressing the media, along with Visakhapatnam Mayor Peela Srinivasa Rao, at Bheemunipatnam on Thursday (August 21, 2025), Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that a water project would be launched in Madhurawada to prevent water scarcity in the rapidly growing area of the city.
Referring to other development works, the MLA said an Underground Drainage (UGD) project would also be undertaken in the area at an estimated cost of ₹292 crore.
Basic amenities would be improved at an estimated cost of ₹100 crore in nine wards of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), which fall under the purview of Bheemunipatnam Assembly constituency.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that ₹4,700 crore was spent on the development works in Bheemunipatnam constituency between 2014 and 2019.
He said that a Bheemili Development Forum would be established to ensure the planned development of the constituency. The forum would meet once every three months and review the progress of the works and take decisions accordingly. A vision document would also be formulated for the Assembly constituency.
The MLA said that the Bhogapuram International Airport would be ready by June 2026.
A plan has been prepared for widening the Bheemunipatnam–Tagarapuvalasa Road to 150 feet. “There is a proposal for the merger of Bheemili Rural, Anandapuram and Padmanabham mandals with the GVMC. Once the TCS, Google, Cognizant, Sattva, Sify and Adani Data Centre start their operations in the city, more than 1 lakh people would get employment directly or indirectly,” he added.
