KSRTC to operate 1,500 special buses for Gowri-Ganesha festival rush in Karnataka

To ensure hassle-free travel during the Gowri and Ganesha festivities on August 26 and 27, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced the operation of 1,500 additional buses from Bengaluru and other parts of the State.

The special services will run between August 25 and 26 for outbound passengers while return services are scheduled on August 27 and August 31.

The extra services will connect Kempegowda Bus Station in Bengaluru to major pilgrim and district centres, including Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapura, Sringeri, Horanadu, Davanagere, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Koppal, Yadgir, Bidar, and Tirupati and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad in Telangana.

From Mysuru Road Bus Station, dedicated buses will ply towards Mysuru, Hunsur, Piriyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalanagar and Madikeri.

Premium services from Shantinagar BMTC Bus Station (TTMC) will cater to passengers bound for destinations in Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Kumbakonam and Tiruchi, and in Kerala, including Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam and Kozhikode.

KSRTC has enabled advance booking through its website (https://ksrtc.karnataka.gov.in/), at booking counters across Karnataka, and ticketing centres in neighbouring States — Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Puducherry, Maharashtra and Goa.

KSRTC has advised passengers to carefully note their boarding points mentioned on the tickets.

Special discount

To encourage group and return bookings, KSRTC is offering a 5% discount on fares for groups of four or more travelling under a single ticket. Additionally, a 10% concession will be extended to those booking onward and return journey tickets together.

An officials said, “Details regarding departure points and timings have been updated on the reservation network and the KSRTC website. Special services will also operate from all taluk and district bus stands under KSRTC’s jurisdiction depending on demand.”
