
Women’s air rifle gold medalist Elavenil Valarivan in the Asian Championship in Kazakhstan on Friday.

Elavenil Valarivan battled the Chinese and Koreans efficiently to bag the women’s air rifle gold with a 0.6 point margin over Peng Xinlu in the 16th Asian shooting championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, on Friday.
It was the second Asian championship individual gold for the 26-year-old Elavenil, following the first in 2019.
The two-time Olympian and former world No.1, Elavenil had won two World Cup individual gold medals, apart from the World Cup Final gold, in a distinguished shooting career.
World Championship silver medallist, Mehuli Ghosh placed fourth. The Indian team won the bronze behind China and Korea.
In mixed skeet, Ganemat Sekhon and Abhay Singh Sekhon won one of the two bronze medals by beating a strong Kuwait team 39-37.
Yashasvi Rathore and Harmehar Singh Lally won the junior mixed skeet gold by beating Kazakhstan 39-36, in a small field.
