District administrations across Rayalaseema have assured farmers that there will be no shortage of urea and chemical fertilizers for the ongoing Kharif season, and promised stricter enforcement against black marketing and hoarding.
Speaking to the media on Friday after a review meeting with Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, Nandyal Collector Rajakumari Gania appealed to farmers not to panic, noting that fertilizer supplies this year already exceed those of Kharif 2024. She urged farmers to refrain from stockpiling fertilizers over fears of a potential Rabi shortage, emphasising that allocations will be made according to actual requirements. The Collector added that Markfed’s share in the distribution segment had been increased to 70%, while vigilance officials have been instructed to step up monitoring.
In Rayachoti, Annamayya District Collector Sridhar Chamakuri directed officials from the agriculture and line departments to ensure urea and fertilizers are readily available to farmers at all Rythu Seva Kendras. He warned that dealers or commercial outlets caught diverting supplies to the black market will face strict action, including cancellation of their licences. Mandal-level inspection teams have also been formed to curb malpractice at the field level.
