Guntur District Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar has appealed to the public and organizing committees to conduct Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in a traditional and peaceful manner while strictly adhering to police guidelines.

With the festival scheduled on August 27, the SP on Saturday outlined detailed instructions for pandal organizers and procession committees. He said a minimum of five members must form a committee and register their details, along with identity proofs, at the local police station to obtain permission. Necessary approvals from municipal, fire, and electricity departments must also be secured. Organizers are required to keep fire safety measures like sand and water at the venues.

The SP stressed that loudspeakers should not be used between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., processions should avoid provocative slogans or acts, and banners or idols should not obstruct public roads. Consumption of alcohol, narcotics, and indecent performances at venues or during processions are strictly prohibited. Only licensed and experienced drivers should operate immersion vehicles, which must be in good condition.

Organizers have also been asked to coordinate with police on procession routes, especially in view of traffic diversions caused by Brodipet ROB bridge construction. Any violations or untoward incidents will be the sole responsibility of the respective committees, the SP warned.
