Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday condoled the death of former general secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister said “Deeply saddened by the passing of Comrade Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, former general secretary of the CPI. From his early days as a student leader to his service in Parliament and later as the CPI’s national leader, he devoted his life to the struggles of workers, farmers, and the marginalised.”

Mr. Stalin also said he had personally witnessed the warmth and clarity of thought of the late leader during his many visits to Tamil Nadu, including talks on alliances and his presence at the memorial event of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.

His life will continue to inspire the fight for justice and dignity, said Mr. Stalin, who extended his condolences to his family, colleagues and party workers.
