Opposition flays DMK government over Chennai Corporation conservancy worker’s death

PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran criticised the DMK government over the death of a Chennai Corporation conservancy worker due to electrocution.

In a post on X, Dr. Anbumani said the incident shows how bad and weak Chennai Corporation’s basic infrastructure was. He alleged that the DMK government was responsible for the death of the worker. The compensation provided by the DMK government to the family of the worker was not sufficient and it should be hiked to ₹50 lakh.

Mr. Dhinakaran the incident happened due to the negligence of the administration and held the DMK government responsible. He also urged the Electricity Department and State government to remove the electric cables lying dangerously, ahead of the monsoon season. V.K. Sasikala also blamed the DMK government for the incident.

Extending his condolences, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K. Selvaperunthagai urged the state government to provide government job to one of the family members of the deceased and called for immediate measures to ensure safety of conservancy workers.
