Hundreds of runners made a statement against drug abuse by taking part in a running event organised in the city on Sunday.
‘Run for Ganesha’, organised ahead of the Gowri-Ganesha festival, was meant to create public awareness on eschewing drug abuse, and was conducted by Sri Janajagarana Trust and Kamakshi Hospital.
The run was flagged off by MP for Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, who spoke about the ill-effects of substance abuse and urged the youth to stay clear of such practices. The focus of the youth should be on career building, he added.
The run was held in different categories based on distance, and commenced from Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple and passed through the Silver Jubilee Clock Tower, Gandhi Square, Dufferin Clock, Devaraja Urs Road, JLB Road, Ramaswamy Circle, Chamaraja Double Road, and reached JC Circle, before concluding at the starting point.
MLA for Krishnaraja T.S.Srivatsa and others were present.
