Uday Pratap Saharan scored a composed century (109), while skipper Anmolpreet Singh (72) and Anmol Malhotra (87) played crucial supporting roles to help Punjab gain a significant 165-run first-innings lead and pave the way for its six-wicket win over Madhya Pradesh on the final day of the All India Buchi Babu tournament at the MRF-Pachaiyappa’s ground on Sunday.
In the second essay, MP could manage only 230 for eight in the allotted 45 overs, setting Punjab a modest target of 66 for victory. Punjab made light work of the chase, racing to a win in just 6.2 overs.
In a Group-B encounter, Jammu and Kashmir’s Vanshaj Sharma (four for 74) and Abid Mushtaq (four for 78) spun a web around the Baroda batters, restricting them to 182 for nine in its second innings. Chasing a target of 78, J&K eased to a 10-wicket victory and secured a bonus point.
