Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand and other senior officials to channel the majority of fertilizer supplies through Markfed to ensure farmers face no inconvenience in procurement.

During a teleconference on Sunday to review fertilizer availability, Mr. Naidu emphasised that officials must maintain adequate stocks, particularly of urea, at Rythu Seva Kendras and cooperative societies to prevent shortages. He directed that 70% of fertilizers should be distributed through Markfed and stressed the importance of strict monitoring to prevent diversion.

“Urea must not be used for non-agricultural purposes,” the Chief Minister said, highlighting the need to educate farmers on the proper use of fertilizers. He also called for comprehensive information on fertilizer availability to be shared with farmers to avoid any confusion. Daily inspections should be conducted to curb black marketing and the sale of fertilizers at inflated prices.

Tourism development

Meanwhile, Mr. Naidu lauded Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra for observing that tourism is the only ‘ism’ for the future, as it unites people, connects cultures, generates livelihoods, and drives purposeful growth. Appreciating Mr. Mahindra’s vision of developing new destinations, the Chief Minister welcomed him and other hospitality leaders to Andhra Pradesh, noting that the State is home to many hidden gems like Dindi, waiting to be discovered.

“From spiritual heritage sites to scenic retreats, Andhra Pradesh offers a wealth of experiences for travellers from around the world,” Mr. Naidu added.
