The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) has issued safety guidelines for organisations and groups installing Ganesha idols in public places in Mysuru and surrounding district.
On August 25, CESC Managing Director Munigopal Raju emphasised the importance of prioritising safety during the celebrations. Hence, the organisers of public Ganesha festival have been advised to take all necessary precautionary measures and ensure that no untoward incident occurs during the festivities.
Cautioning the organisers against drawing unauthorised power connections by hooking onto electricity lines, he said permission for a proper connection should be obtained from the respective office of the CESC sub-division or branch.
Also, the organisers have to ensure that no electricity lines pass near the site of the idol installation and pandals. Mantaps should not be erected beneath or close to electricity lines. A safe distance should be maintained between electricity lines and the idol and pandals.
Extra precautions were necessary in view of the rainy season, the CESC official said, adding that no banners or boards should be tied to electricity poles or transformers.
Particular attention should be paid to ensure that tall flags or cutouts do not come in contact with overhead electricity lines. âIf there are obstructions due to power lines on the route of the procession, the matter should be reported to the respective CESC office so that power supply can be temporarily suspended,â the official stated.
People can contact CESC for electricity-related help and information on 1912.
